HMI & Sensory Engineering

Full module design and delivery covering human factors, haptics, medical robotics, and EMG-based control for engineering students.
Module designed and taught from scratch (30 hours total). Topics covered:
- Human factors, ergonomics and user-centred design
- System safety, accident prevention and risk analysis
- Visual perception: human vision, colour, luminance and visual interface design
- Auditory, tactile and vestibular perception applied to human-machine systems
- Haptics, force feedback and touch perception
- Teleoperation, force feedback and master-slave architectures
- Medical robotics: surgical, rehabilitation and assistive robots
- EMG signal acquisition and processing for robotic system control
Machine Learning (Engineering)

Project-oriented Machine Learning module for engineering students: supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, feature engineering and ensemble methods.
Module taught with practical sessions, hackathon and group projects (30 hours total). Topics covered:
- Introduction to Machine Learning and model development lifecycle
- Data preparation and exploratory data analysis
- Supervised learning: classification and regression
- Model evaluation and performance metrics
- Feature selection and dimensionality reduction
- Hyperparameter optimisation
- Ensemble learning methods (Random Forest, Gradient Boosting)
- Unsupervised learning and clustering
MATLAB & Numerical Methods

MATLAB programming and numerical methods for Master students in Materials and Components Engineering.
Module designed and taught (25 hours total). Topics covered:
- MATLAB programming: variables, matrices, control structures, functions and data visualisation
- Code debugging and analysis
- Interpolation, polynomial regression and error analysis
- Numerical solution of non-linear equations and linear systems
- Numerical methods for ODEs: Euler, Runge-Kutta, ode45
- Modelling and simulation with Simulink
General Physics Lab (PH100)

Practical lab supervision for first-year bachelor students: mechanics, geometric optics, experimental methodology and data analysis.
Practical lab supervision (128 hours total over two academic years). Topics covered:
- Mechanics — projectile motion, solid friction, experimental data acquisition and analysis
- Geometric optics — thin lenses, image formation, focal length, laws of reflection and refraction
- Experimental analysis tools and data processing
- Scientific methodology, uncertainty estimation and technical report writing
